SPOILER ALERT
Blue Bloods is going to be doing a storyline that has been done before when the show resumes new episodes January 6, but hopefully the CBS drama will put its own spin on it to make it different from the others.
Spoilers about Erin
According to TVLine, "Erin will be devastated and wracked by guilt when a confidential informant who has been aiding her in a corruption investigation meets a most unfortunate fate." That does make it sound like the informant is killed or at least seriously injured, but who's responsible? Corruption investigations can get complicated enough, especially on procedural dramas, and corruption and informant murder have been shown before on other shows, but will Blue Bloods' version of it be able to stand out from what has been done before?
Will they still be able to bring an end to the corruption investigation despite what happens to the informant? Will that be what helps them close the case? It depends on how wide the corruption spreads, but perhaps that will make it easier to figure out who's responsible for it and they'll just have to spend time building the case. Whatever happens, as long it doesn't end up being an hour similar to what's been seen before in procedural crime dramas, it should be a good episode.
